About Me

I’m not sure what to write here; I haven’t yet thought of anything pretty and witty so I’m just going to pop down some words and come back to it later.

I’ve lived in Brisbane, Australia most of my life with a brief interlude on Mount Tamborine during the 80s.

I’ve always been writing something – bits of things, most of them unfinished.

In 2011 I began a Bachelor of Creative Arts at The University of Queensland. I majored in Film & TV and Writing and graduated in 2013. I used to work at Blockbuster so I had to study film.

In 2014 I did my Honours year at UQ. I wrote my thesis on one of my favourite television series “Giving Voice to the Unmentionable: How Hannibal Lecter Uses Bodies in the Television Series Hannibal”. I have many favourite television series.

Academia is addictive so in 2015 I began studying writing online at Swinburne University. The best thing about studying online is that you don’t have to put on pants and go places. In 2017 I graduated with a Master of Arts (Writing) degree.

So here we are.

This site contains some of my writing that I now feel ready to share with the rest of the world. There’s a collection of Fiction and Non-Fiction writing because I love both styles of writing. Most of what I’ve popped on here are from my time at university–there are some academic essays from the right side of my brain and some short stories and scripts from the left side of my brain.

I think I’m going to add some of the photographs I’ve taken over the ages because I really like some of them.

If you like anything you read, click on the hopefully-working contact link and let me know.

Until I think of something better to write…

Cheers.

Lisa

Very exciting! The most important questions are, do I feel like starting with fiction or non-fiction, and which piece do I read first?

I feel like I’m looking at a chocolate box, trying to decide which one to eat first. Or maybe a better analogy is, I feel like Hannibal, looking at my guests, deciding which one needs to be nibbled on first.
