About Me

                                                             My Pretty City

I’ve lived in Brisbane, Australia most of my life with a wonderful interlude on Mount Tamborine during the 80s. My short story Tales from the Pine Tree Forest is about my primary school.

In 2011 I began a Bachelor of Creative Arts at The University of Queensland. I majored in Film & TV and Writing and graduated in 2013. I worked at Blockbuster for eight years so I just had to study film.

In 2014 I did my Honours year at UQ. I wrote my thesis: “Giving Voice to the Unmentionable: How Hannibal Lecter Uses Bodies in the Television Series Hannibal”. Hannibal is one of my favourite television series. I have many favourite television series.

An abridged version of my thesis has recently been published in Hannibal For Dinner, edited by Kyle A. Moody and Nicholas A. Yanes. The book is available via McFarland

Academia is addictive so in 2015 I began studying writing online at Swinburne University. The best thing about studying online is that you don’t have to put on pants and go places. In 2017 I graduated with a Master of Arts (Writing) degree.

So here we are.

Most of the things I’ve popped on here are from my time at university–there are some academic essays from the right side of my brain and some short stories and scripts from the left side of my brain.

I hope you enjoy your time here and please, come again.

Cheers,

Lisa
